FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
San Francisco, Calif., March 22, 2007 -- Hotmath, Inc. announces that its award-winnning website, www.hotmath.com, will now offer free practice tests to help students master high-stakes math exams. The offerings will include practice for the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) 11th grade exit exam and a variety of general math subjects, starting with Algebra 1.
The practice tests for state-specific exit exams will duplicate the lengths of the actual exams so that students can become familiar with the full rigor of the actual tests. The nationally targeted tests will also provide extensive practice. For example, the Algebra 1 practice sessions will consist of twelve tests plus a final exam. Test-takers have the option of having their answers scored and can address knowledge gaps by using a test item's “Solutions” button to obtain hints, step-by-step solution guides, or review lessons.
“Practice tests like these can help students and teachers go further in math mastery than they could have previously,” stated Hotmath President, Chuck Grant. “The current national push for improved math education makes this an even more important issue. Personally, I think students from any state can use our California and Texas practice tests to assess themselves and get a good handle on their skill acquisition for math at their grade level.”
In early March, Hotmath launched its CAHSEE practice tests, which will be followed later in the month by the TAKS exit exam practice. Throughout the spring, Hotmath will add the Algebra 1 tests, additional state tests and also textbook chapter tests for Algebra 2, pre-algebra, geometry, calculus and other math subjects.
