San Francisco (April 9, 2003). hotmath.com, a website that provides tutorial homework help correlated with popular high school and college math textbooks, has announced the support of eight popular prealgebra textbooks as of fall 2003.
President Chuck Grant, a former math teacher, says that Hotmath has been barraged with requests for prealgebra tutorials. "With over 1 million Hotmath tutorial solutions being viewed per month, Hotmath has become the most widely used math homework website in the US," said Dr. Grant. "By adding coverage for 7th and 8th grade textbooks, we will now be able to help middle school students get on solid footing before they enter the world of algebra."
According to vice president Robert Bekes, who is also Chair of the Math Department at Santa Clara University, Hotmath has the primary goal of helping as many students as possible. "High school students and college students have found Hotmath to be an incredible alternative to paid tutors. Parents of middle school students are going to be especially pleased to have Hotmath help, now that their children are learning math that tests their abilities."
Hotmath attracts underperforming students to its website with the promise of easier, quicker homework completion. However, students soon grasp the step-by-step approach that Hotmath shows (for odd-numbered problems only) and learn to solve problems on their own. There are over 200 success-story testimonials shown on the Hotmath website.
hotmath.com is available as a free trial during the 2002-03 school year, and will be sold to schools, teachers and parents for the 2003-04 school year.
Hotmath, Inc. was founded in 2000 and is based in Kensington, California. Hotmath is teacher-created, research-based, state-recommended, and is broadly supported by math teachers and math professors. For more information, please contact , or call 510-524-5525.
