Welcome District Administrators and Superintendents
This page is intended for administrators considering multi-school licenses
of Hotmath for 5,000 or more math students using textbooks covered by Hotmath.
Hotmath for Large Districts
We are pleased to be licensed in large districts - we support your students
away from class with help on their assigned math homework from textbooks.
More of your students will complete their homework with understanding.
Efficacy
Please read our Educators and About
Hotmath pages. Also, we have this presentation as
a summary of considerations for large districts.
Large District Orders
Large districts pay 65¢ per student for 12 months, and licenses may
start at anytime. For implementation of Hotmath, teachers simply inform their
students of the password. We assign passwords on a per-school basis and provide
usage reports. Please contact schools@hotmath.com or call 510-524-5525 for

- In the TIMMS mathematics results, U.S. students ranked below average
at the 8th grade, and almost last at grade 12, in international comparisons.
3. Would Homework Help Make a Difference?
- Yes - Teachers agree that students who do their homework pass the class.
- Yes - Many students without a math savvy parent or tutoring would benefit
significantly.
- Yes - Students are far more motivated to do homework having a directly
relevant, time-saving resource.
- Yes - Research demonstrates that providing explained, step by step solutions
along with homework supports learning (see next slides).
4. Supporting Research
- A 1992-94 Texas study provided underperforming students with worked out
solutions for 50% of assigned homework (on paper).
- As published in a reviewed journal article, these students surpassed
the previously higher-performing control group!
- Some of the reasons:
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Reduced “wrong learning”
- Increased likelihood of completing the work
- See research whitepaper on Press Room page

Hotmath to parents.
- Survey was performed by independent survey company.
6. Performance Testing
- 2004 California study compared exit-exam pass rates in 122 Hotmath high
schools vs statewide averages.
- Similar 2004 study compared algebra proficiency between Hotmath middle
schools and statewide middle schools.
- Results indicate a positive correlation with Hotmath use and are detailed
below.
- The following table of state testing results demonstrate the value of
Hotmath to any school.

12. What Do Students Say About Hotmath?
-
Hello! Here's my story.... I used to hate algebra with a passion, until
I started getting over the fact that the subject will never go away.
Anyway, once again we had algebra equations for homework and I was truly
stumped. While browsing on the net, I found Hotmath and before you knew
it, I understood everything! A's, A's, A's are all I've been seeing.
Columbia, South Carolina
-
In the beginning of the year, I was getting straight F's! It had nothing
to do with my teacher. He is a great teacher, I just never asked for
help. Then I decided to get my help from Hotmath, and my grades went
up 3 letter grades!!! My parents were sooo proud!
